competitor compliance with power-to-weight based rules.

In the sport of motor racing the saying “You’re only cheating if you get caught” can be a common one. Competitors are constantly pushing and bending the rules to gain an advantage.

However Traqmate is working together with NARRA to give every competitor a fair chance, and stop cheats in their . . . tracks.

The new US GT and Whelen US TimeTrial championships have the most free and open rules in the country. Both series divide cars into three horsepower to weight ratio classes; ‘Unlimited’, ‘1’ and ‘2’.

NARRA doesn’t limit the car year or model eligibility either and offers a new place for cars that have been made obsolete by the continuous rule revisions of alternate series.

These open rules mean nearly any closed-wheel performance production, sedan and GT style car can enter, attracting strong and diverse fields of exotics and home grown muscle cars.

Gracing the track together are marques including BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mustang, Porsche and Viper.

Such a variety of cars usually makes policing rules virtually impossible, but not so with Traqmate’s easily transferable GPS Data Acquisition system as Glenn Stephens, President of Traqmate, explains;

“What makes the Traqmate unique is it can be operated for a longer time off a rechargeable battery. Because it’s GPS and accelerometer based it doesn’t require any hookups to the vehicle. Installation only takes a couple of minutes.

It’s just so portable and easily placed in numerous cars, of all makes and models, very quickly. That, its accuracy, and our software’s ease-of-use give Traqmate a unique set of qualities very attractive to both competitors and the organizing bodies.

And there is no extra cost to competitors because they’re not required to purchase the hardware. NARRA officials simply install the self contained unit. It can’t be tampered with or turned off, and the data can’t be manipulated, eliminating cheating.”

Ron Hlozansky of Traqmate added;

“We’re very pleased to be the ‘Official Performance Equalization Partner’ of the North American Road Racing Association.

The US GT Championship and Whelen US TimeTrial Championship are new up-and-coming pro series, gaining a lot of attention and publicity.

Both will have mass exposure, with their full seasons broadcast on later this year, hosted by motorsport personality Tom Hnatiw.

NARRA is fantastic for the racing industry. The concept of having pro-racers and amateurs all running on the same weekend is fantastic.

You have Driver Education students literally rubbing elbows with pros, which is what they want. They want to be able to get out there, and be at the track on the same weekends as these guys, and with NARRA they can.

We understand that people have a lot of respect for NARRA and will say, ‘hey, if Traqmate’s good enough for NARRA, it’s good enough for me’.”

The next round of the North American Road Racing’s US GT Championship and Whelen US TimeTrial Championship will be held May 13-15 at Sebring International Raceway (Sebring, Florida).

The event will also feature rounds 1 and 2 of the 2011 Dodge Viper Cup and the highly respected US Performance Driver Education program.
